Basil Leaves

Basil is the king of summer among the aromatic plants to be used in the kitchen. It has become a typical ingredient of Italian cuisine and is a big success in the vegetable gardens of the Mediterranean regions but this aromatic plant originates from India. Already in ancient times the uses of basil went beyond the culinary ones, in fact it was used to create perfumes as well as a healing remedy. Basil is rich in vitamins, minerals, flavonoids and antioxidants, wich are useful to protect the body from aging and to counteract the action of free radicals. Over time science has deeply studied the beneficial properties of basil which are mainly anti-inflammatory and antibacterial.
